- Who was Bob Matheson?
Robert Graham Matheson first arrived in the Territory of Papua New Guinea in September 1951 and was employed by the Commonwealth Department of Works to set out the Taurama Military Barracks in Port Moresby.
His last job before leaving PNG in 1975 was as the Surveyor General.
He passed away at the Wesley Hospital Brisbane on Saturday, the 24th of November, 2007 aged 78.

Ian died on Tuesday the 24th of August, 2004, on the Gold Coast, Australia aged 89. Downs is remembered as the principal facilitator of the contruction of the Highlands Highway - linking the Highlands, Lae and Madang - as well as being a powerful influence in the founding of PNG's great coffee industry.
