Due to noise and pollution issues the last Air Niugini Fokker F28 left Cairns airport for Port Moresby on the 31st of March 2004. Click on the link to see a photograph of this event.
The name "Fellowship" was the winning entry in an employee contest to name the new Fokker aircraft. The first F28 prototype was rolled out at Schiphol (Netherlands) on April 4th, 1967. The Fokker F28 Fellowship Mark 1000 received its Dutch Airworthiness Certificate on Feb. 24th 1969, followed by its Federal Aviation Certificate on March 24th. At the time, Fokker held firm orders for 12 Fellowships from five airlines, plus 10 from Fairchild.

VH-FKB - Sold to Air Niugini 29 Sep 1989. It departed Sydney 2 Oct 1989, as VH-FKB. Reregistered P2-ANH. 29 Sep 1989. It was damaged beyond repair at Nadzab, Lae, PNG, 17 Nov 1997, after an undercarriage failure.
