Goroka

Goroka is the provincial capital of the Eastern Highlands Province. The Eastern Highlands is the gateway to the Highlands region of Papua New Guinea and can be reached by road (Highlands Highway) via the coast from Lae and Madang. All other Highland towns are then accessed via Goroka.

The Eastern Highlands has several cultural events throughout the year. Some of them are the Coffee Festival held in May each year and the Goroka Show in September.

To see the famous Asaro Mudmen you only need to take a very short drive from the town of Goroka.
