Mission Aviation Fellowship commenced in PNG on the 7th of May 1951 with the first flight departing Madang piloted by Harry Hartwig in a Auster Autocar. 2011 is the sixtieth anniversary of MAF in PNG. MAF is a not-for-profit team of aviation professionals providing air transport in places of deepest human need - remote places where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline.
It is estimated there is an MAF plane taking off somewhere in the world every six minutes.
