Papua New Guinea Parliament House at Waigani in the National Capital District (Port Moresby).
There are many parties, but party allegiances are weak. Winning candidates are usually courted in efforts to forge the majority needed to form a government, and allegiances are fluid. No single party has yet (2010) won enough seats to form a government in its own right.
Parliament House was opened on the 7th of October 1984 by His Royal Highness Prince Charles. It has been built in the style of a Maprik (Sepik) Haus Tambaran (house of spirits)
