Miss PNG History
The history of Miss Papua New Guinea goes back many years however the first time the title of Miss PNG was used was just prior to Independence in 1974. Miss Charity Queen was also part of the event and the title went to the contestant who raised the most money for the PNG Red Cross.

Miss Eva Arni was the first holder of the title "Miss PNG" ... Eva went on to win the Miss Asia Title in 1975.

Miss Courts Superstore - Miss Olivia Wilson won the title this year. Miss Milne Bay Red Cross, Cecilia John took out the title of Miss Charity Queen. |
2002 |
Miss Galley Restaurant Yaku Ninich won the title for 2002. Katherine Tabuchi, raised more than K77,000 and became the Charity Queen. |
2003 |
The title went to Miss MRDC - Miss Cynthia Asi for 2003. She also raised over K158,000 to become the Miss Charity Queen. |
2004 |
Ashwin Samson (Miss Warehouse) - Ashwin also took out Miss Charity Queen for 2004. |
2005 |

Miss Coffee - Genevieve Roberts took out the 2006 title. Miss Coffee was a teacher at -- Goroka Grammar School -- when she won the title. |

2009 |
Seven contestants took part in the Miss PNG and Charity Queen contest held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Port Moresby. The seven contestants were Miss University of PNG Antonia Singut, Miss Oro Filma Gadebo, Miss Ox & Palm Brigitte Wase, Miss Granville Motel Christine Kenwai, Miss Simbu Isabel Nopro, Miss Milne Bay Julie Wapi and Miss Goroka Jacqueline Saleu. Two of the entrants, Miss Oro and Miss Goroka, entered the Miss PNG Quest without sponsors but managed with the support of family members, relatives and their local communities. Miss University of Papua New Guinea, Antonia Singut, took out the title of Miss PNG for 2009. The Miss Charity Queen title went to Brigitte Wase, who entered the quest as Miss Ox & Palm, sponsored by Hugo Canning Company Limited.
A total of around K90,000 was raised by the contestants for Red Cross

2010 |
Miss Bank South Pacific, Rachel Sapery James, took the title of Miss PNG for 2010. She is a marine biologist from New Ireland province. 26 year old James has a master’s degree in international studies of aquatic tropical ecology and conservation from a German university. She was also named Miss Humanitarian and Miss Patron’s Choice. |
2011 |
The 2011 Miss South Pacific PNG contest was won by Miss Nambawan Trophy Ltd Sarah Karo. She is from Hula and Gabagaba in Central province. Karo represented PNG as its cultural ambassador at the Miss South Pacific pageant held in Samoa. 2011 Miss South Pacific PNG contestants were judged in five categories: Bilum wear, sarong wear, talent, traditionally-inspired attire and stage interviews. First runner-up was Miss Dekenai Construction Yalinu Poya Other special awards went to :- Miss Children by Choice Nicole Jeune, who took the title of Best Bilum Wear,Miss Leahy Lewin Nutley Sullivan Augaia Jane Dalton took the title of Miss Photogenic, |
2012 |
Crowned both Miss PNG and Miss Humanitarian for 2012, while representating the Pagini Group of Companies, was Lorainne Rifu. |
2013 |
Christine Aiwa - originally from Chimbu, Sepik and Morobe province parentage was crowned Miss PNG

What used to be known as the Miss South Pacific Pageant promoting tourism and Pacific women beauty has changed its name to the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant. The change was first raised in 2011 when board members of Papua New Guinea and Hawai’i presented their views on the issue in Apia during the Miss South Pacific pageant that year. Their concerns were that Papua New Guinea and Hawai’i were not in the South Pacific zone, yet they have always participated in the competition. |

Kellyanne Limbiye - a University of PNG student has been crowned Miss PNG (2016) 23 year old Limbiye, a final-year political science student was also judged winner of the sarong wear and talent categories. First runner-up was Miss Queen Emma Chocolates Lois Doules Ilave, second runner-up was Miss International Training Institute (ITI) Rose Lakoro Pitoi and the third runner-up Miss Pacific Balanced Fund (PBF), Melody Leke. |
2017 |
Miss PNG 2017 - Niawali Twain. The 2017 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant Papua New Guinea winner, Niawali Twain received a surprise from her official sponsor, the Paradise Food Limited, for a full sponsorship to complete her studies at the University of Papua New Guinea. Miss Twain was also announced as the official brand ambassador for Queen Emma Chocolates by Paradise Food Limited chief executive officer Michael Shields.
